First time Seattle home buyers Alex Eschen and Jessica Huttenhauer are understandably cautious purchasing their first home, but decided that the combination of low prices and favorable interest rates make this a buyer’s market that they don’t want to miss. “We wanted to be very thorough by evaluating properties in a 20 mile radius priced between $300K and $400K. We want to start a family in the future and are interested not only in the house, but the yard and the location of schools and other amenities,” said Jessica. We pulled up interior and exterior photos of the house, we used the parcel maps to check out the yards and “flew” to neighborhood schools and parks to determine our level of interest. We were able to pull up King County Assessor data on every home in the county. We compared how the home for sale compared in value to the rest of the neighborhood and how much it had appreciated. It even showed us when it was renovated and the condition of the structure. We were glued to the screen for four hours,” said Jessica. Alex and Jessica were able to narrow their search to only six homes that they wanted to visit. After looking at the six, they both agreed that they had found their dream house for a very affordable price.
